Gentle Reminders for Divorcing Parties:
- Don’t post anything in any form of Social Media that you don’t want to later have to defend in court
- The Party seeking the divorce has often been contemplating divorce for 18 months to 3 years before actually going forward
- The Party learning of the divorce is often caught off guard by the actual timing of the divorce
- Parties are required to make difficult and important decisions during a divorce when they are otherwise hurting
- The range of emotions experienced in a divorce are similar to that of a death and are seen on the wheel of grief (you can google wheel of grief to read more)
- Do treat the other Party the way that you would want to be treated
- Remember that your child/ren only have one childhood (so don’t ruin it with your emotions and burdens) and that, generally, they do and should (for their emotional well-being) love both parents
